ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mongolian spot

Mongolian spots are dark blue or grey spots that some babies are born with on their skin. They look kind of like a bruise but they are not caused by getting hurt. They are actually just a natural part of your skin, and happen when a baby's parents have certain kinds of skin. Mongolian spots usually show up on babies with darker skin, though they can happen to babies with any color skin. They usually go away when the baby grows older, but some people have them their whole lives.
