Moriones Festival is a big party in the Philippines that celebrates a story from the Bible. It happens during Holy Week, which is a special time when people remember Jesus' death and resurrection.
The story is about a Roman soldier named Longinus who was blind in one eye. One day, while he was guarding Jesus' tomb, he saw some of Jesus' blood fall on his blind eye and it miraculously healed him. After that, he became a believer in Jesus and was baptized.
In the festival, people dress up in costumes that look like the armor that Roman soldiers wore a long time ago. They also wear masks that have scary faces like monsters, animals, or skulls.
They dance around and try to scare people. Some people even put fake blood on their costumes to look like they're really hurt.
It's not meant to be scary though, it's just supposed to be fun. Sometimes they even have big parades with lots of music and dancing.
The festival is named "Moriones" after the masks that the people wear. It's a really big deal in the Philippines and lots of people come from all over the world to watch it.
