ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Moses

Moses was a very important person from a long time ago in a book called the Bible. He was born in Egypt when the Egyptian Pharaoh said that all the baby boys should be killed because he was scared they were going to take over his kingdom. Moses' mom hid him in a basket and put him in a river to keep him safe.

He was found by Pharaoh's daughter who took him in and raised him like her own son. When he grew up, he saw that the Hebrew people (Moses was also Hebrew) were being treated very badly by the Egyptians. So he talked to God and asked for help to free his people.

Through a series of miracles and plagues (bad things happening to the Egyptians), God helped Moses and his brother Aaron to convince the Pharaoh to release the Hebrew people. After they left Egypt, Moses led them through the desert for 40 years. During that time, he talked to God and wrote down the Ten Commandments (rules for people to follow).

Moses was a great leader and helped the Hebrew people live better lives. Even though he faced many challenges, he never gave up and always trusted in God to guide him.
