ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Mother of God (Roman Catholic)

So, sometimes people say "mother of god" when they are talking about Mary, who was the mother of Jesus. In the Roman Catholic church, Mary is a very special and important person because she gave birth to Jesus. Catholics believe that Jesus is the son of God, so that means Mary is the mother of God's son. That's why people call her the "mother of God." It's kind of like if your mom had a really important job, like being the President's assistant, and people called her "mother of the President." It's a way of showing respect and honor for Mary's special role in Christianity.
