Muscle atrophy

Okay, kiddo, let's talk about muscle atrophy.

Do you know what muscles are? They're the parts of our body that help us move! When we walk, jump, or even lift heavy things, our muscles help us do that.

But sometimes, when we don't use our muscles enough, they can start to shrink or get smaller. That's what we call muscle atrophy.

So, let's say you hurt your leg and have to use crutches for a while. Because you're not using your leg muscles as much, they might start to get weaker and smaller. That's muscle atrophy.

The same thing might happen if someone is sick or has to stay in bed for a long time. If they can't move much, their muscles might start to atrophy.

But don't worry! Our bodies are really amazing, and our muscles can grow back if we start using them again. So, if someone has atrophied muscles, they can do exercises to help make them stronger and bigger again.
