Mushroom rock

Mushroom rock is a rock that looks like a mushroom. We all know what a mushroom looks like, right? It has a cap on top and a stem at the bottom. Well, mushroom rocks often have a big rock on top that looks like a cap and a smaller rock at the bottom that looks like a stem.

But how did these rocks form to look like mushrooms? That's a great question! Mushroom rocks are made from a special type of rock called sandstone. Sandstone forms when tiny grains of sand get stuck together over millions of years.

Sometimes the sandstone gets eroded away by wind or water, but some parts of the rocks are harder than others, so they stick out more. This is what creates the mushroom shape!
