ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Naïve realism

Naïve realism is a way of looking at the world and believing that everything we see and experience is true and real. It's like when you's a kid and everything seemed magical and mysterious. You might have believed that the moon followed you when you ran around the yard or that you could fly if you just jumped high enough. That's naïve realism - believing that the world is magical and that things are exactly what they seem to be. It usually changes as we grow older and reality sets in.
