ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Narcissistic parent

A narcissistic parent is a parent who is overly focused on themselves and their own needs, and often ignores or belittles the feelings and needs of their child. They like to have control and don't like it when their children make choices that are different from what they want. This type of parent often tries to be the center of attention and may be very dismissive or critical of their child's talents and successes. They may expect their child to do things that make them look good, rather than what's best for the child. A narcissistic parent may also be very secretive, rarely sharing details about their own life with their child.
