National Union (Italy, 1923)

Okay kiddo, let's talk about Italy in 1923. At that time, Italy was a country that was made up of different groups, kinda like how you have different friends in your class at school. Some of these groups were workers, farmers, and business owners, and they all had different needs and interests.

A national union is a group that brings all of these different groups together under one big umbrella. The idea was to have one big union that could speak for everyone and help them all achieve their goals.

In Italy in 1923, a man named Benito Mussolini became the leader of the country. He wanted to create a national union to help support his government and control the different groups in the country. So he created the National Fascist Union, which became the only legal union in Italy.

The National Fascist Union wasn't like other unions, though. It was controlled by the government and didn't really fight for workers' rights like unions are supposed to. Instead, it supported Mussolini's ideas and helped him stay in power.

So, a national union is a way to bring different groups of people together, but in Italy in 1923, it was used as a tool for control rather than a way to help people.
