National god

A national god is the god or gods that is worshipped and honored by the people in a particular country. A national god is often a symbol of a country's culture, values, and traditions. In some countries, the national god may be based off of one of their real-life gods or goddesses, like Ancient Greeks worshiping Zeus. In other countries, the national god may be a figure of legend, like Lady Liberty for the United States. Whether real or imagined, the national god is a symbol of unity and pride for the people of a nation.
