ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nationality law

Nationality law is a set of rules that tells countries who can be a citizen (person with official membership and rights in the country) of that country. Different countries have different rules and usually the rules say that a person must be born in the country, have parent(s) who are citizens of the country, or marry a citizen in order to become a citizen. It's important because it determines who can vote, own property, get certain jobs, and receive certain benefits in the country.
