ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nested radical

Imagine you have a big box, and inside that box there is another smaller box, and inside that smaller box there is an even tinier box. This is like a nested box, where each box is contained inside the bigger one.

A nested radical is a bit like a nested box. It means that we have a square root symbol, and inside that square root symbol, there is another square root symbol, and inside THAT symbol, there might be yet another square root symbol.

For example, let's say we have the following nested radical: √(3 + √(5 + √(7))). This means that we have to take the square root of the number 3 plus the square root of the number 5 plus the square root of the number 7.

It's like peeling the layers of an onion: first you evaluate the innermost square root, then the next one, and so on until you get to the outermost one.

Nested radicals can be tricky to evaluate, and sometimes you need to use algebra and other tricks to simplify them. But in essence, it's just like a box inside a bigger box inside an even bigger box.
