Nickel–cadmium battery

A nickel-cadmium battery is a special kind of battery that can store electricity. Think of it like a big container that can hold energy. When you put the battery into a toy or flashlight or phone, it powers the device and lets it do things.

Inside the battery, there are two parts called electrodes. One electrode is made of nickel, and the other electrode is made of cadmium. These two parts are separated by a special material called an electrolyte.

When you put the battery into a device, it starts working by sending electricity from the nickel electrode to the cadmium electrode through the electrolyte. This creates a flow of electricity that can power the device.

The best thing about nickel-cadmium batteries is that they can be recharged. That means you can put the battery into a special charger and give it back the energy it once had. It's like filling up your gasoline tank in your car, but for your battery.

However, these batteries can be harmful to the environment if they're not disposed of properly. They contain some chemicals that can harm plants and animals if they're thrown away with regular trash. So always remember to recycle your old batteries!
