ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Nikolai Bernstein

Nikolai Bernstein was a scientist who studied how our bodies move. Imagine trying to throw a ball really far. Your body needs to work together to make that happen. Your brain tells your arm muscles to move in a certain way, and your eyes help you aim at the right spot.

Bernstein wanted to understand how all of these different parts of the body work together to make movement possible. He studied athletes, dancers, and even animals to see how their bodies move.

One thing he discovered was that our brains don't just control our movements, they also learn from them. So every time we throw a ball or dance a certain way, our brains are taking note of how we did it and practicing to get better next time.

In the end, Bernstein's work helped us understand how our bodies move and how our brains play a role in making it happen. Pretty cool, huh?
