Nitnem

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of nitnem? Nitnem is a Sikh practice of reciting certain prayers every day. It is like saying thank you to God every day for all the good things in life.

Nitnem has five main prayers called Banis. Let's learn about them:

1. Japji Sahib: This prayer talks about the nature of God and how we can connect with Him. It teaches us to be humble and kind, just like God.

2. Jaap Sahib: This prayer talks about the different qualities of God and how great He is. It helps us understand that God is always with us, and we should trust Him.

3. Tav-Prasad Savaiye: This prayer talks about a warrior who fought fearlessly for what was right. It teaches us to be brave and stand up for what we believe is right.

4. Chaupai Sahib: This prayer talks about how we should always have faith in God, no matter what. It helps us when we feel scared or worried, reminding us that God is always with us.

5. Anand Sahib: This prayer talks about feeling happy and joyful. It reminds us to be thankful for all the good things God has given us, and to always be hopeful.

Many Sikhs recite nitnem early in the morning, before the sun rises. Nitnem is an important practice in the Sikh faith, and helps Sikhs feel connected to God every day.
