Niven's Laws are a set of three rules related to communication technology and safety. They are named after Larry Niven, a science fiction author.
1. A phone system or other communication system should be easy to use and should not impose any more user restrictions than necessary.
2. Communication technology should be secure, so that only the people who are supposed to have access to it are able to use it.
3. Communication technology should always be available in case of emergencies, so that people can find help when they need it.
