Noise dosimeter

Have you ever heard really loud noises that hurt your ears or made it hard to hear after? Well, sometimes people have to work in places where there are very loud noises all the time. To make sure they stay safe and their ears don't get hurt, they use something called a noise dosimeter.

A noise dosimeter is kind of like a little computer that you wear on your clothing while you work. It measures the loudness of the noises around you and keeps track of how much time you spend around those loud noises.

Just like how we can get sunburned if we stay out in the sun for too long, our ears can get hurt if we are around loud noises for too long. A noise dosimeter helps to make sure that people don't spend too much time around those loud noises that can hurt our ears.

So, if a person is working in a noisy place, they might wear a noise dosimeter to help keep them safe. The little computer will keep track of how loud the noises are and for how long they are around those noises. This way the workers can stay safe and healthy, just like you wear sunscreen to protect your skin.
