ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Normative principle of worship

Okay kiddo, so you know how when we go to church or temple or mosque, we sing songs and pray and do other things to show our love and respect for God, right? Well, the normative principle of worship is basically a rule that says we should only worship God in the ways that he has told us to, either directly in holy books or through tradition. We shouldn't make up our own ways to worship that aren't approved by God, because that might not be the right way to show our love and respect.

So, it's kind of like following the rules when we play games. We have to follow the rules in order for the game to be fair and fun. Similarly, we have to follow the rules that God has given us for worship, so that we can show our love and respect for God in the way that he wants us to.
