The north–south divide is the gap between people who live in the northern parts of the world and people who live in the southern parts of the world. People in the north usually have more money, better healthcare, better quality education, and better jobs. People in the south usually have less money, worse healthcare, worse education, and poorer jobs. The divide exists largely because of a history of colonialism and unfair trading practices, which have resulted in richer countries in the north and poorer countries in the south.
