Nuclear fuel is like food that powers a nuclear reactor. A nuclear reactor is a big machine that uses uranium (a special type of rock found underground) to produce power. The uranium is turned into a special type of fuel that's used to heat water to create steam. The steam is what powers turbines (like a big fan) that create electricity. That electricity is used to turn on lights, charge phones, and make all sorts of things work. The fuel used by the nuclear reactor needs to be changed and replaced to keep the reactor running safely and efficiently.
