Nutrient profiling

Nutrient profiling is like playing a game where we check the food we eat to ensure we are getting all the good stuff our body needs to grow up healthy and strong.

Every food has a set of different nutrients, like vitamins, minerals, and fats. Nutrient profiling helps us understand and evaluate how much of these nutrients are present in the food we eat.

Let’s pretend we are looking at a candy bar; even though it might be tasty, it’s not the best choice for our bodies to grow up healthy and strong. This is because candy bars contain a high amount of sugar and fats and don’t have essential vitamins and minerals.

On the other hand, fruits and vegetables are nutrient dense and are a great source of nutrients that our bodies can use to help us grow up strong and healthy.

So when we talk about nutrient profiling, we are looking for foods that are full of nutrients and checking the balance between the nutrients that those foods provide. It’s like creating a balance between what our body needs and what we eat.

In short, nutrient profiling helps us to make sure we are choosing foods that have the best balance of nutrients to help us grow up strong, healthy, and happy.
