ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Oblique wing

Have you ever seen a bird fly? Birds use their wings to lift up into the air and soar through the sky. Planes also have wings, but they are usually straight and go straight out from the body of the plane.

Now, some planes have a different kind of wing called an oblique wing. This means that the wing is not straight and goes diagonally out from the body of the plane. It looks like a big slanted triangle!

The oblique wing helps planes fly more efficiently because it changes the way the air flows over the plane. When the plane goes fast, the air hits the wing at an angle and creates a lift force that helps the plane fly up higher.

Think of it like when you play with a frisbee or a kite. When you throw the frisbee or hold up the kite and run, the wind creates a force that lifts them up into the air. The oblique wing works the same way!

So, an oblique wing helps planes fly better and use less fuel to travel long distances. It's like a superpower for planes!
