Octavo

An octavo is a special way to make a book. Imagine taking a really big piece of paper and folding it in half two times, so it is divided into eight little pages. Then, you write or draw on those little pages. When you make a book like this, it is called an octavo!

This type of book was very popular a long time ago, when big pieces of paper were hard to come by. People would make their books smaller so they could use less paper and save money. It also made the books easier to carry and read since they were smaller. Today, we still use octavos to make special books, like art books or poetry collections.
