Offender profiling

Offender profiling is a way of trying to figure out who might have committed a crime. It is done by looking at the details of the crime and figuring out what kind of person might have committed it. Offender profiling uses information like the place and time of the crime, the type of crime, how the crime was done, how the criminal behaved and the ages of potential suspects. By looking at all this information, it can be possible to narrow down the list of people who may have committed the crime.
