ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

One-room school

A one-room school is a special kind of school that only has one classroom where all the students learn together. Imagine if your house was a school and your mom or dad was the teacher. That's what a one-room school is like!

In a one-room school, there might be kids of different ages and grades all in the same class. Some might be learning to read while others are learning how to do multiplication. The teacher has to make sure that everyone gets the right kind of lessons and activities to help them learn what they need to know.

Some one-room schools can be found in small towns or rural areas where there aren't a lot of students. Sometimes, families who live far away might even have to ride a bus or walk a long distance to get to school.

Even though a one-room school might seem different than a regular school with multiple classrooms, the important thing is that students are still learning and growing every day.
