Open prison

Open prisons are different to other prisons because they allow inmates to come and go from the prison with permission. This is done to help prepare inmates for life in the real world once they are released from prison. Inmates are often held in open prisons for shorter times than in traditional prisons. Open prisons also provide educational, recreational, and job training activities for inmates. In open prisons, inmates usually wear their own clothes instead of prison uniforms and are expected to follow certain rules, like not leaving the prison without permission. Open prisons are designed to help inmates make better choices in life after they leave prison.
