ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Open space reserve

An open space reserve is like a big playground for nature! It's an area of land that is protected so that animals and plants can have a safe place to live and play. Think of it like your bedroom, but much, much bigger!

Imagine a park that you love to go to with trees, flowers, and lots of grass. Open space reserves are like that, except they are much bigger and have many more plants and animals that live there. Open space reserves are usually set aside by the government, so they can protect the land from buildings and other things that could hurt the environment.

There are many things you can do in an open space reserve. You can hike, bike, and maybe even horseback ride on the trails. You can have a picnic, fly a kite or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. You can also volunteer to help protect the plants and animals that live in the reserve.

So, just like you need a safe and comfortable place to live, plants and animals need a safe and comfortable place to live too. And that's what open space reserves are for!
