Protected area

A protected area is an area of land or sea that the government or other organization has set aside to be looked after and taken care of. It is protected so that it's plants and animals don't get hurt or disturbed. Some protected areas have special rules people have to follow when they visit, like no littering, no hunting or fishing, or no fires. It is very important to protect these areas so that we can enjoy them for many years to come!
