Operation Blue Star

Okay kiddo, so there's this place called India and there's a religion there called Sikhism. The Sikhs have a really important place called the Golden Temple which is a big, beautiful building that they think is very holy.

But there was this man named Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale who was living in the temple and he and some of his followers were causing trouble. They didn't like the Indian government and they wanted their own country.

So the Indian government decided to send the army to the temple to get rid of Bhindranwale and his followers. This operation was called Operation Blue Star.

The army went in with guns and tanks and there were lots of fights and people got hurt. A lot of Sikhs were inside the temple at the time and they were scared and upset.

Even though the army was able to get rid of Bhindranwale and his followers, a lot of people were angry that the Indian government had used violence to get them out of the temple. In fact, some people were so angry that they assassinated Indira Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister of India at the time.

So, Operation Blue Star was a very important event in India's history and it is still talked about a lot today.
