Ophites

Ophites are like a club of people who believed in something long, long ago. They thought snakes and serpents were very important and very special. They believed that snakes were really smart and wise creatures and that they had special powers that could teach people things.

Now these Ophites were really into religious stuff, and they thought that the snakes were actually messengers from God. They thought that the snakes could help them understand God better and help them be closer to God.

So they started doing things like worshipping snakes and keeping them in special places. They would even look for things in nature that looked like snakes and worship them too.

But some people didn't really like the Ophites' ideas. They thought it was kind of strange to worship snakes and they didn't think it was right. So, some people started speaking against the Ophites and warned everyone else that their belief in snakes could lead to big problems.

Overall, the Ophites were just a group of people who had some unusual ideas about snakes and what they could teach us. Some people liked what they believed in and some did not, but that's okay because everyone is allowed to have their own beliefs.
