Original Boston Baked Beans

Okay kiddo, so way back when, before we were even born, a long time ago in a place called Boston, people used to love to make a special dish called Boston Baked Beans. It was a meal made of navy beans, which are kind of like small, white pebbles that are yummy to eat when cooked just right.

To make these special beans, people would first soak the navy beans in water overnight, which means they left them in a bowl of water while they went to bed and then woke up and drained the water off. Then, they would put the beans in a big pot with some special ingredients like molasses (which is a thick and sticky kind of syrup made from sugar), brown sugar (which is like regular sugar but with a caramel taste) and salt pork (which is like bacon but more salty).

After mixing all the ingredients together in the pot, people would put the pot in the oven and let it bake for hours and hours until the beans were soft and sweet and yummy. The aroma that would come from the oven with the baking beans would fill the house and make everyone's belly rumble with hunger.

Once the beans were all cooked up and ready to eat, people would often add some warm, freshly baked cornbread or a piece of ham on the side. And then they would sit down together as a family and enjoy a hearty and delicious meal of original Boston Baked Beans.
