Originalism

Originalism is a type of interpretation of the US Constitution. It means that laws are meant to be understood the same way that the people who wrote the Constitution thought about them. This means that if the original writers of the Constitution said something back then, we cannot interpret it differently today. This is why lawyers and judges try to look back to what was originally meant when reading and interpreting the laws of the Constitution.
