The Ottoman Empire was a big group of people who lived in a place called Turkey a long time ago. The United States is a country that is far away from Turkey. A long time ago, people from the United States started to visit Turkey, and they became friends with some of the leaders of the Ottoman Empire. They talked to each other a lot and sometimes gave each other presents.
One time, the United States helped the Ottoman Empire fight against some other people who were trying to take over their land. The United States and the Ottoman Empire were both happy that they won the fight together. Then, the United States sent some people to live in Turkey and help teach the people there more about things like medicine and agriculture.
But later on, the Ottoman Empire started to fall apart and get weaker. Some people in the United States thought they should try to take over the Ottoman Empire's land because they thought it would be a good way to make their own country stronger. But other people in the United States didn't want to do that because they thought it was mean and unfair.
Eventually, the Ottoman Empire stopped existing and the people who lived in Turkey became part of a new country called Turkey. Today, Turkey and the United States are still friends, but they don't depend on each other as much as they used to. They still talk to each other and trade things like food and clothes, but they are each their own independent country.
