Outgassing is like when you open a jar of peanut butter and you can smell it from far away. It's when things give off gas or air, and it can happen with things that you might not even be able to smell. When things are made, they can have gases trapped inside of them. These gases want to escape and when they do, it's called outgassing. It happens a lot with things like plastic toys or new cars because they have a lot of things inside of them that can give off gas. Outgassing can sometimes be dangerous too because some of the gases that come out can be harmful to breathe in. So while it might be exciting to open a new toy or sit in a new car, it's important to be careful and make sure you are in a well-ventilated area if there are any strange smells.
