ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Outrage culture

Outrage culture is like when you get really mad about something that happens or something that someone says, even if it's small or not a big deal. It's like blowing up a balloon inside yourself until it pops! Sometimes people get mad at things because they think it's not fair or it's not kind to other people. Sometimes people get mad just to show other people that they care about things.

But sometimes, people get mad about things on the internet and they write really mean things to the person who did the thing they're mad about. They might say things that are way worse than the thing they're mad about! That's not very nice or helpful.

It's important to care about things and stand up for what you believe in, but it's also important to be kind and polite to other people, even if you disagree with them. So, it's okay to be mad sometimes, but always remember to be kind and think before you write or say mean things to others.
