ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Overcurrent

Overcurrent is when too much electricity flows through something, like a wire or a circuit. Imagine a water hose that is only supposed to carry a certain amount of water. If you try to force too much water through it, the hose could burst. The same thing can happen with electricity. If too much electricity flows through a wire or a circuit, it can cause damage or even start a fire. That's why it's important to make sure the amount of electricity going through something is just enough, and not too much.
