Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a place called the Pacific temperate rainforest? It's a special type of forest that grows in parts of North America, in places like Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California.
Now, this forest is different from other forests because it gets a lot of rain and is usually cool and damp. It's called "temperate" because the temperatures aren't too hot or too cold, they're just right for trees and plants to grow.
The rainforest is home to a lot of different kinds of animals, like bears, deer, wolves, and even salmon in the rivers. And the trees there are really tall, like giants! Some of them can grow up to 300 feet tall. These trees are important because they provide homes for animals and they also absorb a lot of carbon dioxide from the air, which helps keep the planet healthy.
But did you know that these special forests are in danger? People are cutting down the trees for wood and to make room for farms and cities. This is really bad for the animals that live there and for the planet too.
So, it's important for us to protect these special forests and make sure they stay healthy and safe for all the animals that call them home.
