Panda car

Alright kiddo, have you ever seen a police car on the road? You know, the ones that have lights flashing on top and a siren blaring loudly? A panda car is also a type of police car that you might see sometimes.

But don't worry, it's not a car that's shaped like a panda or anything like that. The term "panda car" actually refers to a police car that has a certain design. The car is usually white with a checkered pattern of blue and yellow or blue and green stripes on the side, just like a panda's black and white fur.

The reason why they're called panda cars is because they used to be used by police officers who patrolled zoos in the UK to keep the animals and visitors safe. The police thought the black-and-white design resembled a panda and so the name stuck!

Today, panda cars are still used by police forces in the UK but they are also known by other names like Area Cars, Response Cars or Patrol Cars. They are usually fitted with all sorts of gadgets and equipment to help police officers do their job like radios to communicate with other officers, lights and sirens to alert other drivers, and even computers to help them lookup information about suspects.

So, the next time you see a police car on the road, look closely and you might be able to spot a panda car too!
