ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Panegyric

Imagine that you did something really good, like drew a beautiful picture or wrote a great story. Now imagine someone else wants to tell other people how great you are because of what you did. That person might use a special word called "panegyric" to describe what they are doing.

A panegyric is a speech or writing that praises someone or something very highly. It's like when your parents say how proud they are of you for doing a good job on a project, or when your teacher tells the whole class how well you did on a test.

Panegyrics are usually given for important or famous people who have achieved great things, like presidents, artists, or scientists. They are a way of showing respect and admiration for someone and their accomplishments.

So, to sum it up, a panegyric is like a really big compliment, given to someone for doing something amazing. It's a way of saying "You're the best, and everyone should know it!"
