Hey little buddy, do you know what happens to the paper that you throw in the bin after using it? Do you know that it can be used again to make brand new paper? That's what we call paper recycling!
When we use paper, like for drawing or writing, we often throw it away when we're done. But instead of tossing it in the trash, we can recycle it to make more paper.
The first step in recycling paper is to collect it. Recycling bins are placed around schools, offices, and neighborhoods to make it easy for people to collect their used paper. Once collected, the paper is taken to a recycling plant where it is sorted into different categories, like white paper, colored paper, or cardboard.
Next, the paper is cleaned and made into a pulp. This is done by adding water to the paper and squishing it until it becomes a mushy substance. Then, the pulp is put through a series of screens to remove any remaining dirt, glue, or other unwanted materials.
Once the pulp is clean, it is mixed with chemicals to make it strong and smooth. This mixture is then poured onto a large screen and spread out evenly. The water is drained away, and the pulp is left to dry.
After drying, the paper is made into large rolls and shipped to companies that use it to make new paper products, like notebooks, newspapers, or paper plates. This whole process is called the paper recycling process.
So next time you use a piece of paper, remember that it can be used again and again. By recycling paper, we not only save trees, but we also reduce waste and conserve resources. Recycling is a great way to help take care of the earth!
