Paraffin wax

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen a candle? You know how it's usually made of wax and when you light it, it starts melting and gives off light? That wax is usually made up of something called paraffin wax.

Paraffin wax is a kind of wax made from petroleum, which is a fancy name for the stuff that comes out of the ground when you drill for oil. It's like a really thick oil that can be turned into a bunch of different things, including wax.

Paraffin wax is really cool because it can melt and then harden again. This means that when you make a candle out of paraffin wax, you can melt it down and pour it into a mold, let it cool and harden, and then you have a candle!

But paraffin wax isn't just used for candles. It can also be found in things like crayons, lip balm, and even some types of food packaging. So the next time you see a candle or use a crayon, you'll know a little more about what it's made of - paraffin wax!
