ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Parliamentary assistant

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a teacher’s assistant in your classroom? A parliamentary assistant is kind of like that, but for a group of people who work together to make decisions in a government, called a parliament.

So, imagine you have a bunch of grown-ups sitting in a room, talking about what to do for the country. They might have a lot of ideas and documents to go through, and they need someone to help them out. That’s where the parliamentary assistant comes in!

The parliamentary assistant is like the teacher’s helper. They help the members of parliament with things like organizing papers, taking notes, and reminding them when it’s time to vote on something. They also help set up meetings and take care of other things that need to be done before the members of parliament can make decisions.

The best part about being a parliamentary assistant is that you get to learn a lot about how the government works! You’ll get to see how the grown-ups make important decisions, and you might even get to give them some ideas yourself. And who knows, maybe one day you’ll be the boss making those important decisions!
