Parole

Parole is a way of allowing someone to be released from prison before they have completed their full sentence. That person is still legally serving their sentence, but instead of staying in prison they may be released and monitored by a parole officer. Parole officers will make sure that the person follows the rules and doesn't do anything bad that could lead to them going back to prison.
