ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Particulate matter

Particulate matter is like really tiny pieces of stuff in the air that we can't see with our eyes. It can be made up of lots of things, like dust, dirt, smoke from cars and factories, and even tiny bits of metals.

When we breathe in air with particulate matter, it can get into our lungs and make it hard to breathe for some people. It can also cause other health problems like heart disease.

That's why it's important to try to keep the air as clean as possible by not smoking and using clean energy sources like wind and solar power. It's also important to try to reduce our use of cars and trucks, especially in cities where lots of people live close together.
