Patent

A patent is like a special sticker that you put on your toy so that nobody else can take it and copy it. This sticker is given by the government to the person who invented something new, like a cool toy or a machine that can do amazing things.

So, if you make a new toy and you have a patent for it, only you can sell and make that toy for a certain amount of time, usually around 20 years. That means no one else can make the same toy and sell it without your permission.

A patent is important because if someone tries to make money by copying what you invented, you can tell them to stop and you can even sue them to make them pay you money.

So, just like how you put a sticker on your toy to show that it belongs to you, a patent is like a special sticker that shows everyone that you invented something new and that no one else can copy it without your permission.
