ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Patent model

A patent model is a tiny model that an inventor used to make to show how their invention works. It can be made out of wood, metal, or anything else that will help explain how the invention works. Imagine you have a really cool idea for a toy that can do something special. Instead of just telling everyone about it, you want to show them what it looks like and how it works. So, you make a small version of your toy out of materials you have at home. This is basically what a patent model is, but for grown-ups who invent things. It's like a toy version of their invention that they can show to people who might want to buy it or use it. This helps the inventor protect their ideas and show how their invention works before they actually make a big one.
