Pedigree collapse

Pedigree collapse is when the same ancestor appears more than once in a family tree. For example, if your parents are brother and sister, that means your Mom and Dad share the same grandparents. That would be an example of pedigree collapse because those grandparents would be repeated multiple times on your family tree.
