ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pelvic floor physical therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy is like exercising your private parts! When you visit a physical therapist, they help you learn how to use the muscles in your pelvic area (which is the area around your private parts and lower tummy). These muscles are very important because they help with things like peeing, pooping, and even having babies!

Sometimes, these muscles can get weak, which can cause problems like leaking urine when you laugh or lift something heavy. Pelvic floor physical therapy helps teach you how to make these muscles stronger so that you can control your bathroom habits better.

The physical therapist will work with you to teach you how to squeeze and release your pelvic floor muscles. They will also teach you different exercises and stretches that can help strengthen these muscles over time. Which helps you avoid accidents like peeing in your pants.

It's very important to listen to the physical therapist's instructions and do the exercises just like they tell you to. If you practice these exercises regularly and follow their instructions, you'll find that your pelvic floor muscles get stronger and you'll have fewer problems with bladder, bowel or sexual activity!
