ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Photovoltaic power station

A photovoltaic power station is a special place where we get electricity using something called solar panels. Imagine that the sun is a big light bulb that shines on the earth. These special solar panels catch the light from the sun and turn it into electricity that we can use to power our homes, schools or hospitals!

Think of it like how a plant makes food from sunlight. The solar panels work like the leaves of a plant, taking in sunlight and turning it into energy that we can use for lots of different things.

The power station is like a big farm with lots of solar panels attached to long rows, like plants in a garden. These panels are made up of lots of little parts called solar cells that get very excited when they feel the sun's light.

They gather the energy from the light and create little bumps of energy. They bump into each other, creating even more energy. This energy then flows through wires to a big machine called an inverter that turns it into the regular electricity we use in our homes.

So, when we use a photovoltaic power station, we are using the energy from the sun to power things like our phones, computers or TVs – all without putting any pollution into the air!
