ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Photovoltaic system

A photovoltaic system is like a magic power device that can take sunlight and turn it into electricity that we can use to do things like play on our iPads or turn on the lights in our house.

The system has special panels, called solar panels, that can convert the sunlight into electricity. These panels are made up of tiny cells that are made of a special material called silicon. When the sun's light hits these cells, it creates an electric current that travels through wires and can be used to power different things.

Think of the solar panels like a big box of chocolate. Each piece of chocolate is like one cell in the solar panel. When you eat the chocolate, you get energy to run around and play just like the solar panel cells get energy from the sunlight to make electricity.

The photovoltaic system also has other parts, like an inverter, that helps to change the type of electricity from the solar panels into the right type of electricity that we need to use in our homes, schools, and neighborhoods.

So, in summary, the photovoltaic system is like a magic power system that can take sunlight and turn it into electricity that we can use to power our stuff. It's kind of like a box of chocolates where each piece gets us energy, but instead of chocolate, it's solar panels and an inverter that makes it all happen.
